Great Great Grandmom Marzanna Piatek
(Grandma Lorraine's Grandmother)

She was born Marzanna (Mara) Basara in Poland (Austria) on December 16, 1892
Died of a heart attack in the hospital (Camden, New Jersey), January, 1972
She married George Piatek in 1912 at St. Joseph's Parish, Camden, New Jersey

This photo was taken at her backyard, 1231 Jackson Street, Camden, New Jersey which was her last address. She lived at many addresses in Camden. I don't know what year this was, but I will try to find out.

She came to America from Poland (Austria section) in 1909. She came on the President Lincoln ship and worked in the kitchen. Uncle Walt remembers she said she was afraid on the ship. She arrived July 8, 1909 at Ellis Island and went directly to her brother Kasper's, 1166 Ross Street in Camden, New Jersey. You can see that information on the manifest log below -- click to enlarge. This is Great Great Grandma Mara Piatek's ship she came over here on from Hamburg, Germany.
Isn't this the coolest thing!!!!!!???? She was one of 1,480 passengers. She arrived July 08, 1909.

She gave birth to 15 children:

Dorota (Dorothy) Born 1926 ~ Died 1939 of Scarlet Fever. Great Grandmom Jennie who was 10 at the time, remembers rocking her in a rocking chair and singing to her when she was so sick, and she died in Great Great Grandmom Piatek's arms. She was Buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Camden, New Jersey.
